posted on: june 20, 2019

Staff Picks is a monthly item where some of the staff and volunteers present their personal favorite show of last month, so you can extend your bubble. This time: May, selected by Osman, Wilco, Andy and Luke. Find the article down below and the entire playlist on soundcloud (

Lion Kojo - 3rd May 2019 - selected by Osman

My staff pick for the month May 2019 is not an ordinary one. Lion Kojo invited over his parents to do a b2b session in the studio. It resulted in interesting convos and a great selection of records that influenced him as a DJ and as a person. It was very special to see how music reaches one another and to hear the stories behind some of those records. Big S/O to all the parents in this world.

Steve Balearics - 16th May 2019 - selected Wilco

This month my go-to set was definitely Steve Balearics’. Steve treated us the 16th of May on a sunny afternoon to an hour-long show with 80’s inspired balearic sounds, risking his life the steaming hot container. No harm was done to the artist. He managed to finish the set without dehydration symptoms. Luckily beer was on the scene. Check out his set an stay hydrated folks!

Rem Gow - 23rd May 2019 - selected by Andy

Operator regular Rem Gow served up a belter last month, digging deep for all sorts of outernational sounds for this one-hour mix. It's pretty captivating how he transitions from dreamy, ethereal ambient stuff to some obscure wave tracks. Personal highlight for me was the dubbed out groove of My Other Body by General Strike, on David Cunningham's excellent Piano label. Cracking stuff!

Submid - 25th May 2019 - Selected Luke

These guys are known for their mobile record store, an old Mercedes Benz truck selling records along the way. The Ghost (Berlin) stopped by the 25th and pulled out a 2 hour set filled with slow Hip-Hop and ambient tracks. My favourite track: 21 Park by 45 King, afternoon lounging for sure! After this, they also played an excellent house set in BAR.

Truly worth listening!
